What does time make possible here that a still image could not hold?
Begin with the image, then return to the label, material, scale, duration, and collection context. The work becomes clearer as these clues begin to connect.
Look With This WorkRemembering a life by counting its days
Li Lang writes the dates of his father's life across the wall, from December 3, 1927 to August 27, 2010. The number 30,219 becomes both a measurement and a memorial. After writing the dates, the artist scrapes them away with a knife. The action acknowledges that forgetting is vague and inevitable, while the force of erasure leaves another kind of trace.
Full moving-image access is rights-controlled and available only through request, review, and approved screening conditions. Copyright in each work remains with the artist. Recording, downloading, screenshotting, redistribution, or reuse outside LFC is not permitted.
