What does time make possible here that a still image could not hold?
Begin with the image, then return to the label, material, scale, duration, and collection context. The work becomes clearer as these clues begin to connect.
Look With This WorkProximity as restraint and conflict
The work begins from the artist's curiosity about what an apartment neighbor might be doing. Two tanks are connected through their barrels, making them inseparable and locked in mutual restraint. The idea of the neighbor becomes a figure of distance, tension, conflict, and entanglement between people or neighboring nations.
