Look With This WorkBurning, memory, and cultural fragility
Shen Lieyi documents the burning of a sculptural model of Notre Dame de Paris. The work echoes the collective memory of the 2019 Notre Dame fire, but it reenacts the event through a fragile miniature. Destruction, repair, and continuity become questions about cultural heritage and the vulnerability of civilization.
