The work unfolds from the viewpoint of a dinner guest around a Chinese businessman's proposal to reconstruct the Crystal Palace in Britain. The original Crystal Palace was built for the 1851 Great Exhibition, a site tied to empire, display, memory, and cultural power. Shen Xin uses this scenario to ask who is allowed to retell history, rebuild symbols, and imagine cultural ownership.
